Responsible for providing safe, timely, and efficient transportation and delivery services while ensuring CRS/Nigeria fleet vehicles are maintained according to manufacturer and organizational standards. The role includes supporting routine preventive maintenance, ensuring vehicle reliability, and delivering excellent customer service in compliance with safety and operational procedures.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and professional transportation of staff, visitors, goods, and equipment in accordance with CRS policies and procedures.
- Receive and carry out daily transport assignments, deliveries, and pick-up/drop-off services as directed by the supervisor.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, including checks on tires, engines, fluids, brakes, seatbelts, battery, and other essential components to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and equipped with all required safety items, including spare tires, first aid kits, and communication equipment.
- Record all trips, movements, fuel usage, and vehicle inspections accurately in the m-VMS/VMS systems and submit required reports within established timelines.
- Promptly report accidents, mechanical faults, damage, security incidents, or operational concerns to the Head Driver, Fleet Officer, or Fleet Manager, and follow established reporting procedures.
- Support preventive maintenance activities and perform minor adjustments or emergency repairs when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with CRS travel, fleet, safeguarding, and security procedures during all trips and transportation activities.
- Use approved routes, GPS, maps, and communication tools effectively to ensure safe and efficient movement of staff and goods.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods, luggage, and equipment, ensuring proper handling and accountability.
- Promote safe and eco-friendly driving practices to improve fuel efficiency, reduce operational risks, and protect CRS assets.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, neutrality, impartiality, and respect for diversity while interacting with staff, partners, beneficiaries, and community members.
- Maintain regular communication with field teams and office staff during field movements using approved communication channels.
- Support implementation of measures that enhance vehicle safety, security, efficiency, and proper asset management.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Driver, Fleet Officer, or Fleet Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- A trade school certificate is a plus (NBTE, NABTEB, Fed Min of Trade etc)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate in speaking and writing
- Good attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to work independently or within a team.
- Physically fit and able to adapt to challenging operational environments.
- Previous experience working with humanitarian or development organizations.
Required Languages:
- English (required).
- Knowledge of additional local languages is an added advantage.

Internal: Fleet Officer, Fleet Manger; Fleet staff, Program staff, Supply Chain staff, Finance staff.
External: CRS Nigeria Partners and Visitors
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/GCE O’ Level) or equivalent.
- Valid Nigerian driver’s license with a good knowledge of Nigerian roads and traffic regulations.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ professional driving experience, preferably with an INGO or similar organization.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, and defensive driving practices.
- Familiarity with GPS, mobile applications, and digital reporting tools (m-VMS/MS Office is an added advantage).
