Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems for water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience, a strong understanding of the latest electrical technologies, and a willingness to travel across Nigeria for project execution.
Experience with World Bank-funded water projects and familiarity with World Bank project execution standards are highly preferred. The role also requires experience in preparing progress reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and working with project auditors. Additionally, candidates must have experience managing teams of technicians, site engineers, or contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development
Design and oversee the installation of electrical systems for water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
Ensure compliance with World Bank guidelines, local electrical codes, and international standards.
Develop electrical layouts, circuit designs, and power distribution plans for water infrastructure projects.
Installation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical components, including control panels, transformers, generators, and power systems.
Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in water infrastructure systems.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
Design and implement energy-efficient electrical systems for water infrastructure to minimize power consumption and operational costs.
Evaluate renewable energy solutions, such as solar-powered pumping stations, for integration into water projects.
Stay updated on global trends in sustainable power systems and recommend solutions that align with Nigeria’s evolving energy policies.
Project Management & Execution
Manage teams of technicians, site engineers, and contractors to ensure efficient execution of electrical installations.
Oversee procurement, vendor selection, and contractor management for electrical components.
Ensure projects meet budget, timeline, and quality requirements as specified by World Bank execution standards.
Prepare and submit progress reports, compliance documentation, and work with project auditors to ensure financial and operational transparency.
Maintain accurate documentation, including electrical schematics, technical reports, and compliance records.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
Ensure strict adherence to Nigeria’s national water and energy regulatory frameworks.
Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), IEEE standards, and safety regulations for all electrical work.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with World Bank execution frameworks and electrical safety regulations.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly in water infrastructure, public utilities, or large-scale engineering projects.
Experience working on World Bank-funded water projects is highly preferred.
Membership in COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) or other professional engineering bodies is an advantage.
Technical & Engineering Skills
Expertise in power distribution, electrical control systems, motor controls, and automation for water infrastructure.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or other electrical design software.
Strong understanding of electrical load calculations, power system analysis, and energy efficiency solutions.
Familiarity with World Bank project execution frameworks, procurement processes, and reporting standards.
Experience in preparing progress reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and working with project auditors.
