JOB SUMMARY

The ideal candidate should demonstrate basic competencies in rotating mechanical equipment, static mechanical equipment, mechanical systems, asset management, project management, lubrication excellence and auxiliary systems.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand basic operating principles of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, fans & assist in routine inspections and maintenance under supervision
  • Understand basic functions of static equipment such as pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping & assist with cleaning, inspection and routine maintenance/overhaul on defective mechanical systems
  • Understand basic concepts of equipment lifecycle, asset registers, preventive maintenance schedules & follow instructions in recording maintenance data
  • Understand project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, cost), assist in documentation, task execution, maintain parts & tools inventory under supervision
  • Perform routine lubrication tasks under supervision and maintain cleanliness
  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of plant auxiliary systems (cooling water, lubrication, air compressors, pumps), identify faulty components and follow standard operating procedures under supervision
  • Identifying faulty mechanical machines or equipment, report all observation defects or potential failure on machinery, carry out basic troubleshooting/mechanical repairs and corrective maintenance activities under supervision
  • Undertake any other task or duties as assigned
  • Safety compliance

 

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Good Technical Knowledge of Mechanical systems & Equipment
  • Ability to identify and select appropriate tools or equipment for use relative to assigned work task given.
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of basic safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to details
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • Must be Computer Literate

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering OR Trade Test
  • Minimum of two - five (2-5) years relevant work experience
