Mechanical Technician

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment according to the maintenance schedule.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective maintenance promptly to minimize production downtime.
• Repair, replace, and overhaul worn or defective machine components.
• Conduct lubrication and alignment of rotating equipment.

Equipment Maintenance

Maintain and repair mechanical systems including but not limited to:

• Sterilizers
• Threshers
• Digesters
• Screw Presses
• Clarification Equipment
• Boilers (mechanical components)
• Turbines
• Pumps
• Conveyors
• Gearboxes
• Motors
• Bearings
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Valves and pipelines

Inspection & Monitoring

• Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery and report abnormalities.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
• Identify potential failures before they occur through routine checks.

Installation & Fabrication

• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Carry out basic fabrication, welding, cutting, and fitting activities where required.
• Modify mechanical equipment to improve operational efficiency.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop and work areas.
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Documentation

• Record maintenance activities in maintenance logs or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Report equipment failures, repairs completed, spare parts used, and recommendations.

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of equipment failures.
• Recommend maintenance improvements to enhance equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

• Higher National Diploma (HND), B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant mechanical maintenance certifications are an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a palm oil mill, edible oil processing plant.
• Experience maintaining rotating equipment and processing machinery is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Knowledge of bearings, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with boiler and turbine mechanical maintenance is an advantage.
• High level of integrity and accountability.
