Job Summary:
The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses to support clinical diagnoses and research initiatives. This role demands a meticulous and knowledgeable professional who can uphold laboratory standards, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to the overall efficiency of laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
· Execute a variety of laboratory tests on biological samples to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
· Analyse and interpret test results, providing accurate data to healthcare professionals.
· Develop and refine laboratory protocols to enhance testing efficiency.
2. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
· Maintain compliance with local and international laboratory standards and regulations.
· Document all laboratory procedures, results, and quality control measures accurately.
· Participate in regular audits and quality assurance programs to ensure laboratory integrity.
3. Equipment Management:
· Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of laboratory instruments.
· Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions promptly.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
· Collaborate with healthcare teams to discuss findings and contribute to patient care decisions.
· Train and mentor junior staff in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
5. Research and Development:
· Engage in research projects aimed at improving laboratory practices or developing new testing methodologies.
· Stay informed about advancements in laboratory science and technology.
6. Reporting:
· Prepare comprehensive reports detailing laboratory findings for medical staff review.
· Present data clearly during team meetings or case discussions.
· Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field; certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician is required.
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment.
Required Skills:
· Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
· Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software applications.
· Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of safety protocols and ethical standards related to laboratory practices.
Pay: ₦90,000.00 per month
