Project Technician (Carpenter)

Job Summary

The Carpenter at Dangote Cement Transport will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail to ensure the highest quality of work in compliance with blueprints and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications to determine the layout and materials required.
• Measure, cut, shape, and install materials to meet construction requirements.
• Construct and install frameworks, wooden structures, and fixtures.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other tradespeople to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on existing structures as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and adhere to high standards of quality.
• Maintain tools and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
• Train and mentor junior carpenters as necessary.

Education and Work Experience

• Completion of secondary school education (SSCE), NABTEB, or Trade Test I, II, and III is required.
• Trade certification in carpentry or a related field is preferred
• Proven experience of at least 3-4 years in carpentry, especially in commercial or industrial settings
• Strong knowledge of carpentry materials and building codes
• Proficient in using hand tools and power tools specific to carpentry
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in measurement
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Strong understanding of safety regulations in the construction industry
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings
• Willingness to always follow safety guidelines
• Good knowledge of English
• Good understanding of basic math
