ob description
- Power Generation Management
Operate, monitor, and maintain gas generators (Jenbacher J312, Jenbacher J412) and Caterpillar diesel generators to ensure continuous and reliable power supply.
Manage load optimisation, fuel efficiency, generator synchronisation, load sharing, and changeover operations.
Execute routine inspections, Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), and condition-based monitoring in accordance with OEM standards.
Monitor all key operational parameters (temperature, pressure, fuel consumption, running hours) and take prompt corrective action where deviations occur.
Maintain accurate generator logs, operating hours records, and fault histories.
- Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting
Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults on generators, control systems, and auxiliary equipment with minimal downtime.
Respond promptly to breakdowns, raise work orders, and implement corrective actions within agreed response times.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring faults and propose long-term engineering solutions or equipment upgrades.
Maintain a fault register and track Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) metrics.
- Electrical Distribution & Control Systems
Operate and maintain Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) power distribution panels, automatic/manual changeover panels, and associated switchgear.
Perform safe switching operations and ensure system stability during power transitions and generator changeovers.
Monitor and test protection systems including overcurrent, undervoltage, phase failure, earth fault, and overload relays.
Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant standards (IEE, NEPA/EKEDC guidelines, and internal safety procedures).
- Utilities Equipment Management
Operate and maintain compressed air systems, including Ingersoll Rand air compressors and dryers, ensuring adequate supply pressure, dryness, and quality.
Monitor and optimise energy consumption across all utility systems to reduce operational costs.
Maintain utility equipment service records and ensure compliance with inspection and calibration schedules.
- Critical Spares & Inventory Management
Maintain and update the Critical Spares Register (CSR) for all generator and utility equipment.
Qualifications
HND or B.Eng. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related discipline).
Minimum 5–10 years’ hands-on experience in a power plant or industrial utilities environment.
Generator Exp. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining gas generators (Jenbacher preferred) and diesel generators (Caterpillar preferred).
Certifications Relevant technical certifications (e.g., City & Guilds, COREN, or OEM-issued generator/electrical certification) are an advantage
