Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Project Engineer with a strong background in site supervision and mechanical systems execution to join our MEP project delivery team in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing on-site execution, supervising subcontractors and site teams, and controlling the quality of the mechanical works throughout all phases of construction.

This role includes reviewing mechanical drawings and engineering documents, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards, and leading testing and commissioning activities to guarantee system functionality and client satisfaction. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the on-time, high-quality delivery of complex MEP installations on major projects across Nigeria.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily execution of mechanical systems on site, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, ensuring alignment with project timelines and technical specifications.
  • Lead and supervise mechanical site teams and subcontractors, providing clear direction to ensure high standards of workmanship and productivity.
  • Conduct technical reviews of mechanical drawings, engineering documents, and shop drawings prior to and during execution, identifying discrepancies and initiating corrective actions.
  • Ensure all works comply with approved engineering documentation, codes, and client specifications.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures across all phases of execution, ensuring proper documentation of inspections and corrective measures.
  • Take the lead in testing and commissioning activities, coordinating with third-party specialists and client representatives to verify system performance and compliance.
  • Train and mentor site staff, ensuring team members understand project requirements, quality standards, and health & safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and structural disciplines to resolve interface issues and achieve seamless integration across trades.
  • Monitor project progress against baseline schedules; report risks and initiate proactive measures to mitigate delays.
  • Enforce adherence to site safety policies and best practices, in compliance with both local and international standards.
  • Liaise professionally with consultants, contractors, and client teams during site walks, coordination meetings, and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date site documentation, including daily reports, redlines, inspection records, material logs, and commissioning reports.
  • Use software tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) for administrative tasks, and AutoCAD for reviewing technical drawings and generating redlines.


Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven site-based experience in mechanical engineering within MEP execution across building, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience working in West Africa or similar international project environments is highly advantageous.
  • Strong expertise in site supervision, quality control, testing & commissioning, and hands-on execution of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret engineering documents, shop drawings, and specifications with technical accuracy.
  • Capable of leading multidisciplinary site teams and providing training and guidance to junior staff and technicians.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for reviewing technical drawings and redlines, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) for reporting and communication.
  • Familiarity with international mechanical codes, QA/QC procedures, and HSE standards.
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Willingness to relocate and work full-time on-site in Nigeria, Ghana, or Ivory Coast under project-based contracts.
